A closer look
WQO-DW-02 · 6-Stage Alkaline Reverse Osmosis · 100 GPD
RO purification, with the minerals put back.
Reverse osmosis is very good at removing things from water. That's the point. But it doesn't discriminate — it also strips out calcium, magnesium, and other minerals that were doing no harm. The Alpine addresses that with a sixth stage.
What it actually does
Stages one through five are a standard RO process: sediment filter, carbon filter, carbon block, RO membrane, and a post-carbon polish. The sixth stage is a single inline remineralization cartridge containing mineral media — typically calcium, magnesium, and ceramic mineral balls, with some models including tourmaline or far-infrared ceramic media.
That cartridge adds minerals back into the purified water and raises pH into the 8.0–9.5 range, depending on your source water and the cartridge media.
Who this is right for
Households currently buying bottled alkaline water. At $3–5 per bottle, this system replaces an ongoing expense. It also suits people who find fully de-mineralized RO water flat-tasting — the mineral content noticeably changes the taste.
Who this is not right for
Same limitation as the Spring: this treats your kitchen faucet, not your house. And if you're not specifically after alkaline water, the Spring does the purification work at a lower cost.
Honest note on ORP and health claims
This category is heavily marketed with claims about ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential), antioxidant properties, and various health benefits. We're not going to make those claims. The evidence supporting them is not strong.
What we will say plainly: remineralization is real and measurable. The minerals are added, the pH does rise, and the water tastes different. Whether that produces a health benefit beyond drinking clean water is not something we can honestly promise you, and we'd rather tell you that now than have you find out later.
A straightforward recommendation
The right system is not the most expensive one.
It's the one that solves your home's actual water problem.
Every home has different pipes, different water, and different needs. We don't know yours yet — which is why we don't quote a system over the phone or push a product on a webpage.
What the consultation actually is
A WQO specialist comes to your home at a time you choose. They test your water and look at your plumbing, your fixtures, and your appliances. They explain what they find in plain language — what's in your water, what it's doing, and what it isn't doing.
Then they tell you which system fits, or whether you need one at all.
What it isn't
There's no obligation to buy, no pressure on the visit, and no follow-up sales calls unless you ask for them. If we recommend nothing, that's a legitimate outcome, and it happens.
